Research on the Integration of Shanghai Port and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port

With the integrative development of the Yangtze River Delta,Shanghai Port and Ningbo-Zhoushan Port,two most important ports within the Yangtze River Delta,should cooperate with each other so as to avoid homogeneous compe-tition and establish an international shipping center.On the basis of the analysis of the advantages and drawbacks,compe-tition conditions and development trends,The authors conclude that it is possible for the two ports to conduct cooperation based on labor division,and further put forward some fundamental approaches for the two ports’ integration.It is suggested that Shanghai Port should focus on core businesses like containers and establish itself into an international port of high standard services,while Ningbo-Zhoushan Port should develop itself into a hub port dealing with transferring and transport-ing.
