Abstract

In order to study the effects of salicylic acid(SA)on the seed germination and seedling growth of maize,we measured the germination rate and the germination of seeds, some seedling morphological indexes and some seedling physiological indexes of the seedings after soaking seeds with different concentration of SA. The results showed that, treated with 0~0.05 mmol/L of SA,the germination rate of seeds, seedling morphological indexes and soluble protein content were increased. Treated with 0.10~1.00 mmol/L of SA,the germination rate of seeds, seedling morphological indexes and soluble protein content were decreased. Treated with 5.00~10.00 mmol/L of SA,the seeds didn't germinate. This experiment indicated that 0.01~0.1mmol/L is the most suitable concentration of SA to soaking seeds of maize.
