Abstract
Combining the NCEP re-analysis wind data with an empirical typhoon expressions, the wind fields are formed. The wind fields are used to drive a third-generation wind wave model WAVEWATCH Ⅲ to simulate the wave fields in the northwest Pacific during the period of Typhoon Matsa in 2005.The result shows that the performance of the wave model is improved due to the improvement of the wind fields.
