Monitoring of cockroach density in Datong urban area

Objective To understand the invasion state of cockroach in Datong city for the further prevention and control.Methods Catching the cockroach by glue method and then classifying,counting the quantity.Results Blattella germanica was predominant species in Datong city.Average invasion rate was as high as 77.83% in 2006～2007.The invasion rates were higher in terminal markets(93.59%),residential areas(84.37%),restaurants(80.34%).The average cockroach density was 10.1 pieces per sheet.The terminal markets had the highest cockroach density(21.6 pieces per sheet).The seasonal fluctuation of cockroach had obvious regulation.The higher cockroach invasion rates and density indices were found from February to June.Conclusion The urban area in Datong city are seriously invaded by cockroach.The works of prevention and control of cockroach should be put into effect immediately.
