Abstract

Objective To understand cockroach distribution,density and seasonal dynamics,so as to provide scientific basis for its control and prevention. Methods At the three monitoring points,monitoring was carried out once a month in the mid-month during 2010-2012.The population distribution,density and seasonal fluctuation of cockroach were surveyed using night sticky trap method in residential areas,hotels,eating houses,markets and hospitals. Results A total of 6 480pieces of glue cockroach were placed,and 6 466pieces were reclaimed,5 759cockroaches,were captured.The average cockroach density was 0.89cockroaches/sheet.There were two cockroach species:Blattella germanica and Periplaneta japonica.Blattella germanica was predominant.The peak of mean cockroach density was 1.36cockroaches/sheet in August.The density in markets was 1.24cockroaches/sheet,which was the highest in different condition. Conclusion The density of cockroach should be controlledby using the seasonal and climatic changes influence on the growth and decline of cockroach and combining with environmental management.
