Inquiry into the Curriculum Change in Baoding Lianchi Academy of Classical Learning in Qing Dynasty

Lianchi Academy of Classical Learning is Baoding's highest Academy in Zhili Province in Qing dynasty,whose teaching courses were designed mainly for orientation of imperial examinations.Since introduction of modern western learning into academy,there had been a trend of blending Chinese and Western learning in course contents.Though WU Ru-lun carried out reforms in westernization of curriculum since he was director of Lianchi Academy,curriculum reform in Lianchi Academy could not escape tragic fate of failure at time of that social context.However,it provided a useful resource for the new education system of late Qing Dynasty.
