Abstract

PurposeTo study the effect of Ruanganpian on liver fibrosis induced by CCl 4 in rats. MethodsThe models of liver fibrosis in rats were induced by subcutaneous injection of CCl 4, and serum level of alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),hyaluronic acid(HA), salivary acid(SA)and hydroxyproline(Hyp),malondialdehyde(MDA)and superoxide dismutade(SOD)in liver tissues were determined to reveal the extent of liver damage.ResultsRuanganpian significantly reduced the levels of ALT, AST, HA, SA in serum and Hyp, MDA contents in liver tissuses, and increased the activity of SOD in liver tissues.ConclusionThe results showed that Ruanganpian could protect hepatocytes from lipid peroxidation and the formation of liver fibrosis.
