Abstract

Objective To explore the relation between the pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) syndrome and the hyperhomocysteine (HCY) by measuring the content of the HCY in the patients with severe PIH. Methods The high- performance liquid chromatography was used to measure the level of the homocysteine in the plasma of PIH patients, which was compared with the control group (late pregnancy healthy women); the levels of folic acid and vitamin B 12 were measured by radioimmunoassay and the concentrations of HCY, folic acid and vitamin B 12 of the patients in two groups were compared. Results There was no obvious difference in folic acid, vitamin B 12 and the density between the patients in two groups (P0.05);the average level of the HCY patients was significantly higher than that of the control group(P0.01).Conclusion There is close correlation between the PIH and the hyperhomocysteine and the reason for raised HCY concentrations needs further study.
