Effect of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Programs on the Life Qualities of Stroke Patients in Stroke Unit

Abstract

Objective: To study the effect of comprehensive rehabilitation programs on the life qualities of stroke patients in stroke unit.Methods: In stroke unit,176 cases of acute stroke served as the rehabilitation group and 84 cases of acute stroke in Department of Neurology as control group.The patients in the rehabilitation group were subjected to comprehensive rehabilitation programs,while those in the control group only to the ordinary medical drugs.The quality of life index and Barthel index were used to assess the quality of life and ADL before and 8 weeks after treatment,and self-rating depression scale was used to assess the post-stroke depression(PSD).Results: The scores of the quality of life index and Barthel index in two groups were similar before treatment(P0.05),but 8 weeks after treatment,the scores in the rehabilitation group were significantly higher than in the control group(P0.01).The incidence of PSD in the rehabilitation group was lower than in the control group(P0.01).Conclusion: Comprehensive rehabilitation programs in stroke unit can effectively lower the incidence of PSD,and improve the ADL and the life qualities of stroke patients.
