A Comparative Study of Manufacturing Industry Efficiency——Case Study of Jiangsu Province

Abstract
This paper focuses its study on 30 state-owned manufacturing industries on a certain scale of Jiangsu Province,estimates the total factor productivity(TFP) index,technical progress index and technical efficiency index with Malmquist-DEA model,and makes a comparative study of the efficiency of three manufacturing industries.The main results are as follows: the TFP of labor-intensive manufacturing industry is increasing because of the improvement of technical efficiency and technical progress;the TFP of capital-intensive manufacturing industry is decreasing as a result of technical regress;the TFP of technology-intensive manufacturing industry is improving due to technical progress;and at different periods,the indicators of three manufacturing industries are quite different.As a manufacturing province,Jiangsu needs to accelerate technical progress,improve technical efficiency and scale efficiency,and promote the improvement of TFP of manufacturing industry.
