Abstract

Using Malmquist index analysis method based on data envelopment analysis(DEA) to measure the total factor productivity(TFP) of China's manufacturing industry from 2003 to 2011,the current status and developing trend of technical efficiency and technological progress of China's manufacturing industry are obtained. The results show that from 2003 to 2011,the average annual growth rate of TFP is 8%,the average annual growth rate of technological progress reaches 4.9% and the annual growth rate of technical efficiency is 2.9%.It means that factors that affect the growth rate of TFP of the 30 manufacturing industries in the past nine years are both technological progress and technical efficiency, but the effect of technological progress plays a more obvious role.
