Technical Efficiency,Technical Progress and the Increase of Total Factor Productivity of China's Paper Industry—Empirical Analysis Based on the DEA-Malmquist Index

According to the data of China's paper industry and main province of paper production:Shandong,Guangdong,Zhejiang,Jiangsu and Henan,from the year 2000 to 2011,this paper calculates and decomposes the total factor productivity of China's paper industry.The results show that the TFP of China's paper industry shows an upward trend overall with a significant fluctuation.Technical progress is the main reason to promote the increase of TFP,while technical efficiency contributes only a little.Due to the deterioration of technical efficiency and scale efficiency,the TFP differs greatly from different provinces,with Jiangsu and Shandong increasing rapidly and Henan,Zhejiang and Guangdong increasing slowly.Thus,we should make good use of technology and improve the scale efficiency of China's paper industry.
