A Survey on the Military Freshmen with SCL-90 at a Military University

Objective To survey the psychological status of military university freshmen to serve as reference for college-entrance psychological education of military university freshmen.Methods With SCL-90,the psychological status of the freshmen of a military university was compared with the norm of Chinese undergraduates;comparison was also made between students' different genders and specialties.Results The military university's freshmen had higher scores in the total average score,F2,F3,F6,F7,F8 and F9 than the norm,but lower scores in F1.The males had higher scores in F6,F7 and F8 than the females.Those specializing in nursing had lower scores in F6 than those majoring in pharmacy or public health administration;and lower in the total average score,F6 and F8 than the others.Conclusion The overall psychological status of the military freshmen is poorer than that of undergraduates in general.The military freshmen have more psychological problems in compulsive behavior,interpersonal oversensitivity,hostility,terror,paranoid and psychotic behavior,but fewer problems in somatization.The females and those specializing in nursing have better psychological status.
