Self-esteem and Related Influential Factors in Military College Freshmen

Objective To investigate the self-esteem level of military college freshmen and related factors. Methods A total of 397 students in 5 groups in a military college were selected by convenience sampling in December 2011.All the subjects independently filled in the self-esteem scale(SES). Results The self-esteem level of the freshmen from more-than-one child family was higher than those from one-child family.The self-esteem level of the freshmen from the family with lower income was higher than those from the family with higher income.The self-esteem level of the freshmen with good major satisfaction was higher than those with lower or no major satisfaction.The self-esteem level of the freshmen with confidants,without social interaction difficulty,love troubles or study pressure was higher than those without confidants,with social interaction difficulty,love troubles and study pressure.Thee self-esteem level of the freshmen less affected by the strict management was higher than those opposite. Conclusion The self-esteem of the military college freshmen is influenced by multiple factors.The culture of their self-esteem should be highly valued and specifically directed.
