Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical effectiveness of otoendoscopic myringoplasty with autogenous adipose tissue.Methods The clinical data on 20 patients who had undergone otoendoscopic myringoplasty with autogenous adipose tissue were retrospectively analyzed to explore the healing of tympanic membrane perforation with diverse sizes and causes.Results All patients were followed more than 6 months,with an overall healing rate of 85%.The effectiveness of the procedure differed significantly between the patients with small perforation and those with large perforation in that the former patients had a healing rate of 90%,with an increase in the average audition of(9.2±4.8)dB.The healing rate was 100% in traumatic perforation of tympanic membrane and 90% in perforation secondary to tube placement in childhood,showing a significant difference as compared with that in perforation caused by otitis media.No postoperative complications occurred.Conclusions Otoendoscopic myringoplasty with adipose tissue is a simple,safe and effective procedure,especially for small to medium tympanic membrane perforation.It has better effectiveness in traumatic perforation of tympanic membrane and perforation secondary to tube placement in childhood.
