Abstract
According to the reported gene sequence of M protein of canine distemper virus(CDV) in GenBank,a special pair of primers were designed to RT-PCR amplify M protein gene by using the total RNA of CDV SH stain as a template. The results showed that the homology of gene sequence between CDV SH strain and A75/17,Onderstepoort stain and other seven strain were above 95%;the homology of coding amino acid between CDV SH strain and the others were above 97%.From this information,it can be predicted that M protein has highly conservative property.
