Abstract
Objective:Investigate the clinical significance of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and interleukin-1β(IL-1β) in patients with preterm premature rupture of membranes(PPROM) and chorioamnionitis. Methods:The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in maternal serum, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord serum of 56 pregnant women with PPROM,38 pregnant women with PROM and 30 women with normal pregnancy.Every embryolemma was histopathologically confirmed after delivery. Results:The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β in maternal serum, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord serum of PPROM were highest in three groups(P 0.01).The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β in maternal serum, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord serum of PROM were evidently higher than those in control group(P0.01).Chorioamnionitis in PPROM was more than that in PROM of full term(P0.01).The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β in maternal serum, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord serum in chorioamnionitis were higher than those in non-chorioamnionitis(P0.01).Conclusion:The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β in maternal serum are good clinical biological markers for predicting PPROM.The levels of MMP-9 and IL-1β in maternal serum, amniotic fluid are of value to identify the chorioamnionitis.
