Effect of Heat Treatment on Microstructure and Performance of Mo and Ni-Free Low Alloy Wear-Resistant Cast Steel

Abstract

The Mo and Ni-free low alloy wear-resistant cast steel was successfully developed and its main alloy elements were silicon,manganese and chromium.Moreover,there were some trace elements such as boron,titanium and rare earth in the cast steel which could refine and purify the structure of steel.The effect of heat treatment temperature on the structure and property of cast steel was also studied.The results show that the hardness of cast steel has a slight increase with the increase of quenching temperature.When the quenching temperature is above 950 ℃,the structure is slightly coarsened and the retained austenite appears and the hardness has a slight decrease.After quenching at 950 ℃,the structure of cast steel consists of the lath martensite and a little retained austenite.Its hardness was over HRC 52 and the impact toughness greater than 100 J/cm2 with unnotched specimen.The service life of low alloy cast steel bucket teeth is two times longer than that of high manganese steel.
