New Urbanism:a Design Strategy for Creating High-Quality Urban Public Space

This paper introduces the concept of Urban Public Space,the background and the design principles of New Urbanism.It analyses common problems which comes from the negative influence of traditional culture,during the construction of urban public space of the fast urbanized progress,and studies utilizing three design methods—New Urbanism's functional complex,human scale,emphasizing environment and humanity—to improve the quality of public space.
