Abstract
ObjectiveTo investigate the immunological effect of Yulangsan polysaccharides(YLSPS).MethodsThe rate of tumor inhibition, thymus and spleen indexes, and peripheral white blood cell count were determined. The effect of YLSPS on lymphocyte proliferation was investigated by the methods of MTT;the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and interleukin-2(IL-2) were measured using ELISA.ResultsYLSPS(0.15,0.3 and 0.6 g·kg-1) could inhibit the growth of S180 tumor cells with the inhibitory ratio of 39.7%,41.3% and 52.6%,respectively.It could enhance the thymus and spleen indexes in S180 tumor-bearing mice as well.Furthermore YLSPS could not only enhance the thymus and spleen indexes, but also amelionate the decreased blood leucocyte count induced by CTX in S180 tumor-bearing mice. The experiments also showed that YLSPS could enhance the transformation of splenic lymphocyte induced by ConA,increase TNF-α,IL-6,IFN-γ and IL-2 release of immunocytes, but had less influence on the transformation of splenic lymphocyte induced by LPS.ConclusionYLSPS can enhance the immune system function, and its biological activities may mainly result from selectively activating T cells and macrophages, but is not involved in B cells.
