This paper interprets 爻 in the Book of Changes.Beginning with an interpretation of the generation of its shape,the paper discusses the relationship between 爻 and 十,etc.Then,it touches on the shape of 爻 again and moves on to a brief discussion of the universality of 十.Finally,the paper investigates the original meaning of 爻(meaning both cross and effect) and its derivative meaning.
