Abstract

Objective To investigate the impact of levamlodipine timing on morning blood pressure surge(MBPS),blood pressure variability(BPV) and intima-media thickness(IMT) in patients with essential hypertension. Methods A total of 61 patients with essential hypertension were divided into 3 groups according to the administration time: early group, median group and late group. The ambulatory 24 h blood pressure and IMT were also detected. Results Daytime mean systolic blood pressure was significantly increased in patients of late group than that in early group(P=0.031).The standard deviation of night systolic blood pressure was also significantly higher than that in early and median group(P0.05).MBPS was lower in patients of late group than that in early and median group. Conclusion Compared with other way, evening administration way of levamlodipine may be more effective in decreasing night systolic blood pressure and MBPS.
