Analysis of Intima-media Thickness in Elderly Hypertension with Morning Blood Pressure Surge

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between morning blood pressure surge and Intima-media thickness in elderly hypertension.Methods:Through ambulatory blood pressure monitoring,the mean values of morning blood pressure surge(MBPS),morning systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),pulse pressure(PP),mean arterial pressure(MBP)were measured in elderly hypertension with cairotid atherosclerosis(CAS)and normal carotid artery(CAN).Results:Morning blood pressure surge of CAS group were higher those of CAN group(P0.05),while for morning systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,pulse pressure,mean arterial pressure of CAS group were significantly higher those of CAN group(P0.01).Conclusion:The rise of the mean morning blood pressure surge,morning systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,pulse pressure,mean arterial pressure may be the cause for the formation of artery atherosclerosis in elderly hypertension.
