Abstract
Nanshan hydropower project is located in the remote Nanshan mountains in Guanxi province,with complicated topography and thick plants.It is the first time in China that open-laid high head penstock is of Q390C low-alloy steel with 58mm thick wall.To ensure the installation quality,careful assessment was made on welding technology of Q390C low-alloy steel as the base metal of penstock before installation.The technical option on installation,welding and water pressure tests is continuously optimized and improved in the process of installation,so that the penstock installation is carried out successfully.
