On the Ancient Officials' Challenge System and Its Contemporary Value

Starting from the Han Dynasty,prevailing in the Tang and Song Dynasties and perfected by the late Qing Dynasty,the ancient officials' challenge system is an important component part of ancient and contemporary official-controlling system both in China and other countries.It has been proved through practice to be an effective and indispensable supervisory system.There are provisions in matters of principle on officials' challenge system in the contemporary public servant system,but they don't fit in with the new situation.We can draw the essence of the ancient challenge system and concentrate on the legal construction in such respects as the aim,the scope,the execution and the supervision of such a system.
