Abstract
【Objective】This project aims at discussing the correlation of the sea island cotton yield and quality characters and cultivating new varieties with high yield and superior quality.【Method】By measuring yield and fiber quality characters of 107 F 2: 5 population derived from sea- island 06- 146 and Xinhai14,and using the statistical analysis software SPSS 13. 0,relational degree analysis,path analysis,stepwise regression analysis and correlation analysis were conducted to definitize the correlation factors of the yield and fiber quality characters.【Result】The results showed that the yield was less affected by fiber qualityr. The restoring analysis of yield characters and the lint yield indicated that no mather what the direct path coefficient or the net domino effect value was,the effect was: all boll numbers fiber strength lint percentage. If particular stress is laid on selecting the boll numbers and lint percentage,the yield quality could be improved. The restoring menstrual analysis of fiber quality traits and the lint yield showed that the direct effect was: fiber length fiber strength micronaire fiber elongation fiber uniformity. Fiber strength and fiber micronaire were the leading factors affecting fiber quality.【Conclusion】The results showed that the yield was less affected by fiber quality. Partial relation and path analysis result of yield traits and yield showed that bolls number,boll weight and lint percentage were the three big yield elements,among which,bolls number contributed most to its yield, then followed by the boll weight and lint percentage.
