Abstract
Objective:To study the role and the prognostic effect of bcl-2 and bax in the development to liver cell carci noma.Methods:Bcl-2 and bax expression was investigated in 40 cases of liver cell carcinoma and 16 cases of mormal liver tissue by immunohistochemistry LSAB method. Results:The positive rates of bcl-2 and bax expression were 12.5%(2/16) and 87.5%(14/16) in normal liver tissue and 45.0%(18/40) and 52.5%(21/40) in liver cell carcinoma. The difference was of significance(P0.05).Bcl-2 and bax expression levels were associated with histological grade stages ,lymph node metastasis and prognosis. Conclusion:The increased expression of bcl-2 and decreased expression bax might be involved in the development of liver cell carcinoma, and they might have a mutual effect on each other.bcl-2 protein is an independent indicator of prognosis in liver cell carcinoma.
