Abstract

Objective To examine the prevalence of anxiety and its influencing factors among vocational college students. Methods A total of 763 vocational college students were asked to fill out State Anxiety Inventory,China College Student Psychological Stress Scale,General Self-Efficacy Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale, and Simple Coping Style Questionnaire. Results The state anxiety scores of male and female students were higher than the norm of normal Chinese population(t=3.95,7.24,P0.01).The status of anxiety was positively correlated to perceived stress of study, life, development, and family(r= 0.104,0.133,0.111,0.108,P 0.05)and negatively correlated to general self-efficacy,positive coping style, and perceived social support(r=-0.337,-0.326,-0.220,P 0.01).General self-efficacy,coping style and perceived social support could predict the intensity of anxiety. Conclusion Stress status is closely related to anxiety, whereas general self-efficacy,positive coping style and social support could play important roles in reducing anxiety among the vocational college students.
