Abstract

Objective To investigate urogenital tract mycoplasma infection and drug resistance evolution in STD clinics. Methods Ureaplasma urealyticum (Uu) and Mycoplasma hominis (Mh) were detected in 719 cases with urogenital tract infection by using mycoplasma culture and drug sensitivity reagent kit in 2003 and 2005, and the differences of drug resistance between these two years were compared and analysed. Results The positive rates of mycoplasma, Uu, Mh , Uu and Mh combined infection in 2005 were similar with that in 2003 (P0.05); Uu infection and Mh infection had no significant difference between these two years on drug resistance (P0.05). The drug resistance of Uu and Mh combined infection to josamycin was increased significantly in 2005 (χ2=4.067, P0.05). Josamycin and doxycycline were more sensitive for Uu infection. Josamycin and minocycline were more sensitive for Mh infection. Uu and Mh combined infection had more resistance to most antibiotics but josamycin and doxycycline still showed more sensitive. Conclusions The drug resistance of mycoplasma evolves through the time. Resistance monitoring of urogenital tract mycoplasm periodically is important to guide the clinical drug treatment practice.
