Abstract

Objective:To study the signs on computed tomography (C T) of pancreatic carcinoma in 35 patients and evaluate the significance of conve ntional CT in early diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.Methods:Thirty-five patients with pancreatic carcinoma confirmed op eratively and pathologically were retrospectively analyzed in the signs and scan techniques of CT. Results:The pancreatic head carcinoma in 26 patient s had several manifestations in CT, as follows:①Mild irregular enlargement and slight eminence of pancreatic head, bulging deformation of the uniform process an d lobulation abnormalities.②The irregular low-intensity in pancreatic head on both plain and enhanced CT scan was 77%(20/26). Iso-intensity on plain scan whi le low-intensity on enhanced scan was 15%(4/26).Iso-intensity foci on both pla in and enhanced scan was 8%(2/26).③ Bile duct dilation, pancreatic duct dilatio n, and pancreatic body-tail atrophy were 84.6(22/26),96%(25/26),and 34.6%(9/26) respectively. ④2 cases of the body-tail carcinoma and 6 cases of cystadenocarc inoma were suspected of soft tissue mass with necrosis, cyst, polycyst, and intra cystic separations. Conclusion:Fast thin-slice enhanced scan with magnification and synt hetic analyses of CT signs are much beneficial to early diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.
