Abstract

Objective To understand the demographic characteristics and HIV risk behavior characteristics,HIV infection, the social pressure and psychological stress, knowledge about AIDS prevention in MSM who had sex-selling behaviors. Methods We relied on the network platform to launch an anonymous survey among MSM in April,2010.Non-probability sample survey of peer promotion was used is this survey. The demographic characteristics of MSM,HIV risk behaviors,HIV infection, facing social pressure and psychological stress, awareness of AIDS prevention knowledge were investigated through the online surveys. The surveyed data were statistically analyzed using SPSS18.0 software.Variance analysis and χ2 analysis were used to analyze the factors. Results Totally 180 valid questionnaires were collected in this survey. The average age of the subjects was 27.84 years.Homosexual, bisexual, and heterosexual sexual orientation in their self-views accounted for 65.0%,33.9%,and 1.1%,respectively.The unmarried accounted for 70.6%.College or higher educational background occupied 61.7%.The urban household registration accounted for 81.7%.According to the survey, among the MSM who had sex-selling behaviors and more than 10 homosexual sexual partners accounted for 62.2%,the MSM who had female sexual partners accounted for 58.3%.81.7% of MSM who had sex-selling behaviors looked for sexual partners mainly through the Internet. In the last six months, the proportion of using condoms during the MSM intercourse every time was 53.3%.The proportions of correct answers for the AIDS blood transmission, sexual contact transmission, mother to child transmission were 85.0%~93.9%.The factors affected the knowledge of AIDS were age, education, and residence registration. There was no statistically significant difference in condom using during the last time anal intercourse(P=1.000) and oral intercourse(P=0.325) among MSM with or without HIV/AIDS.77.8% of the MSM considered that they would be discriminated and significantly hurt due to sexual orientation. Conclusions The survey showed that MSM were very active in sexual intercourse and faced enormous social pressure and psychological stress, moreover, they could hardly be found. The high-risk behaviors of HIV infection were still widespread despite the high awareness rate of AIDS.MSM played an important role as a bridge in the spread of AIDS,and might promote HIV from high-risk groups to the general population. After HIV infection, risk behaviors did not change in MSM.We should formulate and improve the relative laws and policies, and create a relaxed social environment for the MSM.Intervention on AIDS risk behaviors in MSM and HIV infectors should be further strengthened.Comprehensive prevention and treatment of AIDS should be implemented in many ways.
