Abstract

Objective To investigate awareness rate, behaviors and HIV infection rate among men who have sex with men(MSM)and to provide a reference to strategy making of AIDS intervention and health education. Methods MSM were recruited by the method of rolling-snowball sampling.Questionnaires related to the knowledge and behaviors against AIDS/HIV were investigated based on different groups. Results 312 MSM had an average age of 27.7;among them, unmarried people accounted for 69.9%,Hui ethnicities accounted for 18.9%,and the people who educated at or above the junior college level accounted for 39.1%.The awareness rate of AIDS related knowledge reached 93.6% and the rate of condom use in the last anus sex with man was 79.3%.The ratio of using condom for any time in recent 6 months was 56%.Among MSM,the ratio of having sex with female in recent 6 months was 79.3%,and the rate of condom use was 47%.In 312 MSM HIV infection rate was 1.9% and syphilis infection rate was 2.9%.Conclusion In Yinchuan, low condom use and the prevalence of high-risk sexual behaviors are potential in MSM.It is necessary to take measures for prevention of HIV prevalence in MSM.
