Surveillance and drug resistance of bacterial dysentery in Shunyi district,Beijing from 2006 to 2012

Abstract

Objective:To study the predominant strains of shigella that caused dysentery and their sensitivity to different drugs in Shunyi district of Beijing from 2006 to 2012,so as to adopt targeted measures for prevention of antibiotics abuse. Methods:Shigella was identified and grouped according to WS287-2008 and GB16002-1995,and K-B method was used to determine their sensitivities to 11 antibiotics. Results:Of the 818 samples from the patients,fifty-seven samples were found positive(6. 97%),including 31 strains of Shigella Sonnet(54. 39%)and 26 strains of Shigella Flexneri(45. 61%). Shigella had different levels of resistance to all the drugs. 82. 46%of the strains were found resistant to 3 or more than 3 kinds of antibiotics. Nalidixic acid had the highest resistance rate,up to 92. 98%,while Oflocaxin had the highest sensitivity rate of 78. 94 %. Conclusion:Shigella Sonnet is the dominant strain of shigella infection in Shunyi district,followed by Shigella Flexneri. Shigella is generally resistant to many antibiotics,with serious multi-drug resistance. Due to the various characteristics of different shigella strains,drug combination and differential drug use should be considered in clinic to improve the therapy effect of antibiotics.
