Abstract
Liang Qi-chao used enlightenment as the central theme of his poetics, and let it penetrate his poetic system spontaneously. He pointed out definitely that the current vocabulary and sentences should be used in poems to describe the new artistic conception; poems must expose the contemporary and newly developed, world wide social ideas, philosophical conception, natural science and material civilization; poems must advocate European advanced ideological ideas which could serve Chinese political reforms. So,enlightenment is the important content and the foundation of Liang's poetics, which is the key to understanding his poetics.
