Effect of individualized health education on the elderly patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis

Abstract
Objective:To explore the influence of the individualized health education on the quality of life and complication in the elderly patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis.Methods:120 cases of elderly patients with maintenance hemodialysis were randomly divided into the observation and control group,each 60 cases.The control group received the routine nursing guidance,while the observation group received the individualized health education for 6 months.The HRQOL score and complication incidence were compared between two groups.Results:After intervention,the HRQOL score was markedly higher in the observation group than that in the control group,and was significantly elevated compared to that before intervention(all P0.01).The incidence rate for the complication was markedly reduced(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion:Individualized health education can raise the quality of life in the elderly patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis,decreasing the complication incidence.
