Effects of Trazodone combined with Paroxetine on depression

Objective To explore the effects of Trazodone combined with Paroxetine on the treatment of depression. Methods 80 patients were randomly divided into two groups:the study group and the eontrol group.40 patients in the study group were assigned to receive Trazodone and Paroxetine,while 40 patients in the control group only received Paroxetine.Paroxetine could be increased to 40 mg/d depending on condition at 2 weekend.HAMD was used to evaluate effect,SERS scale was used to assess adverse response for six weeks.Results HAMD scores were significantly different at 2 weekend,4 weekend and 6 weekend than before treatment in the two groups respectively.HAMD scores and SERS scores were significant different between the two groups at 4 weekend and 6 weekend(P 0.01 ).The incidence of adverse reactions were different between the two groups(x~2≥4.00,P 0.05).Conclusion The degree of depression ease was higher with Trazodone and Paroxetine than with Paroxetine with few and light side reaction.
