Meticulous Capsular Dissection Technique with Ultrasonic Scalpel(FOCUS) in Subtotal Thyroidectomy in the Treatment of Hyperthyroidism

Objective:To investigate the clinical value of meticulous capsular dissection technique with ultrasonic scalpel (FOCUS) in subtotal thyroidectomy in the treatment of hyperthyroidism.Methods:156 cases with hyperthyroidism were randomly divided into research group(80 cases) and control group(76 cases).Meticulous capsular dissection technique with ultrasonic scalpel(FOCUS) was performed in the research group,while conventional dissection technique applied in the control group.Operation time,operative blood loss,postoperative drainage,incised thyroid gland and complications were analysed.Results:The mean operation time,operative blood loss,postoperative drainage and postoperative complications were decreased more significantly in the research group than the control group(P0.05).There was no significant difference in incised thyroid gland between research group and control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Meticulous capsular dissection technique with ultrasonic scalpel(FOCUS) can reduce operation time and complications.It is a safe and effective operation method.
