Clinical trial of Bushen Yanggan Xifeng Decoction on Parkinson Disease with Yin Deficiency of Liver and Kidney

Objective:To observe the curative effect of Bushen Yanggan Xifeng Decoction on Parkinson disease with Yin Deficiency of liver and kidney.Methods:Eighty-three PD patients were randomly assigned to the group and the control group.Both were treated according to the international medication guiding principle for PD treatment,and the treated group was administered with Bushen Yanggan Xifeng Decoction additionally.The treatment course lasted for 12 consecutive months,and the end point was the end of the 12th month.The Traditional Chinese Medicine Symptoms Scale scores,Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRS)scores and Activities of Daily Living(ADL)scores were evaluated respectively before treatment,every 3 month of the treatment and at the end point.Results:After treatment,UPDRS scores in the treatment group had down trend,and that in the control group had a tendency to rise.UPDRS scores before and after treatment in two groups were not statistically significant(P0.05),scores comparison at the same period between two groups were statistically significant(P0.01).After treatment,ADL scores in two groups had a tendency to rise,and the score before treatment was a statistically significant(P0.01),scores comparison at the same period between two groups was statistically significant(P0.01).At the end,the average amount of Dopamine preparations taken by patients in the treatment group was less than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion:Bushen Yanggan Xifeng Decoction could effectively improve the clinical symptoms,which could enhance PD patients' activities of daily life and reduce dose of Dopamine preparations.
