Abstract

The mechanism of exploding technology used to degum raw hemp has been analyzed in this paper. The trial results that were measured under the different exploding conditions showed that fiber bundles and the impurity of fiber surface were cleaved and removed respectively by the wallop of shock wave when exploding, and the micro-holes on the fiber surface were also enlarged. With the accretion of exploding pressure, the cellulose content of raw hemp was increased correspondingly from 52.94% to 84.37% while the lignin was reduced from 7.15% to 3.91%.The residual gum content of 14.75% can decline to 2.41% after degummed by explosion treatment. It was obviously helpful to improve the dying ability of hemp fibers treated. In addition, the density and the polymerization degree of the fiber both declined appreciably because of exploding function.
