Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of calcium hydroxide intracanal medicament in prevention of endodontic interappointment emergencies(IAE).Methods:129 patients with chronic periapical periodontitis were divided into observation group(75 cases) and control group(54 cases) randomly. In the observation group calcium hydroxide was placed in the instrumented root canals;formocresol was used for intracanal medicament in control group. The clinical effect was observed in 1 week after intracanal medication. Results:The IAE frequency of observation group was lower than that of control group, and the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusion:Calcium hydroxide is effective in preventing the occurrence of IAE.
