Abstract

By surueying the content of heavy metals(Cu,Cr,Pb and Cd) in 29 common vegetables of the vegetable bases in suburbs of Zhengzhou, and by comparing with the national health standards of vegetables,it is shown that : the capacity of vegetables to absorb heavy metals was : leaf vegetables flower and grain vegetables root vegetables;most heary metal pollution index in vegetables was over 3.0,indicating serious pollotion. This may be related to the fact that the place was precsously an sewage irrigation area.
