Abstract
Status of soil characteristic and tobacco leaf chemical properties in western Hubei province were analyzed by correlation analysis, factor analysis and gray incidence analysis respectively. The result indicated that,(1)pH and organic matter were reasonable in western Hubei tobacco-growing areas;but N was rather high while K was at low to moderate level in soil.Soil trace elements except effective Fe and effective Mn were at low to moderate level. The soil texture was mainly medium loam and heavy loam.Factor analysis performed among soil nutrients showed that organic matter, total N and hydrolytic N was the first principal component affecting the soil nutrients;total P and available P was the second principal component;and pH was the third principal component, followed by total K.(2)The content of total N was reasonable in tobacco leaves;but total sugar, reducing sugar and nicotine was rather high;and the content of K and Cl was rather low.Factor analysis performed among tobacco leaf chemical components in western Hubei province tobacco-growing areas showed that K,total sugar and reducing sugar was the first principal component affecting the quality of tobacco leaf;total N and nicotine was the second principal component, followed by Cl.(3)Correlation analysis between soil physical and chemical properties and tobacco leaf chemical components showed that organic matter, hydrolytic N and total N were extremely significant positive correlated with total N in tobacco leaf, and exchangeable Mg was significant negative correlated with the content of K.Soil texture was not significantly correlated with tobacco leaf chemical components, but had high positive correlation coefficient with the content of K in tobacco leaf.Gray incidence analysis between soil physical and chemical properties and tobacco leaf chemical component showed that pH,hydrolytic N and total N had more influences on the chemical component of tobacco leaf.
