Abstract
Amyl salicylate was synthesized from salicylic acid and amyl alcohol using p-toluene sulphonic acid as catalyst. The influence factors on the yield of amyl salicylate were discussed. The results showed that p-toluene sulphonic acid was a good catalyst for synthesizing amyl salicylate. The yield of amyl salicylate was up to 94.1% when molar ratio of salicylic acid to amyl alcohol was 1:1.6,amount of catalyst was 6%,toluene was 10 mL,reaction time was 5h,and reaction temperature was 120-140℃.
