On the Constructivism-based Education Reform in English Teaching

College English Curriculum Requirements has started a new round of reform in English teaching.It is pointed out that colleges and universities should remold the existing unitary teacher-centered pattern of language teaching with a view to establishing a computer-aided and learner-oriented teaching model.Such an education reform is based on the learning theory of constructivism.This theory attaches more importance to the learners and advocates their active discovery,active research and mental construction.This paper discusses the teaching model of constructivism(problem-based learning,situation-based learning and cooperative learning);and offers some thoughts for reform in college English teach-ing system.
