Comparative study on the quality of life between schizophrenics treated with aripiprazole and clozapine.

Abstract

Objective To campare the quality of life of schizophrenics treated with aripiprazole and clozapine.Method 90 cases of schizophrenia were randomly divided into aripiprazole group and clozapine group.Treated for six months,all subjects were assessed with PANSS and WHO QOL-100.Results After six months ,the quality of two groups had a better result.Aripiprazole could significantly improve all aspects of quality of life except domination,and had a better result in physical,psychological,level of independence,social relations,environment domain than clozapine group.Clozapine could only improve psychological.There were no significant difference between the score of PANSS in two groups.However,aripiprazole had a better result in negative symptoms.Conclusion The patients with schizophrenia treated with aripiprazole have a better quality of life than those with clozapine,so aripiprazole is favorable for schizophrenic patients to recovery and return to society.
