Impact of Preoperative Psychological Intervention on Anxiety in Patients Undergoing Elective Orthopedic Surgery

Objective To investigate the impact of preoperative psychological intervention on anxiety in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery.Method According to their hospitalization of odd and even days,the orthopedic patients were divided into experimental group and control group,53 people in each.The control group was received preoperative routine visit,and the experimental group was received the routine visit and preoperative psychological intervention.Patients in two groups were evaluated with Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)before and after the intervention.Results After the psychological intervention,the preoperative anxiety score of the experimental group was 28.45±4.25,that of the control group was 37.22±8.58,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.01).The anxiety scores of patients with different-position surgery in the experimental group were significantly lower than the control group and the differences were statistically significant(P 0.01).Conclusion Preoperative nursing intervention can significantly reduce patients'anxiety to ensure smooth operation and it is good for their postoperative recovery.
