Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of the combined therapy using ambroxol hydrochloride and 654-2 in treating bronchiolitis. Methods 63 children with bronchiolitis were allocated to a treatment groups(n=31) and a control group randomly. In addition to comprehensive treatment which was applied on both groups, ambroxol hydrochloride and 654-2 were administered to the treatment group. Results Comparison between the two groups at 24 hours after the treatment indicated that in the treatment group,PaO2 increased significantly(P0.01),respiration improved, heart rate and PaCO2 decreased(P0.05).Comparison during the course of illness showed that symptoms of cough and asthma and signs of pulmonary conditions disappeared in the treatment group.Duration of hospitalization was also shorter than that of the control group(P0.01).Comparison of the outcome showed that cure rate within 7 hours of the treatment group was obviously higher than that of the control group(P0.01).Conclusion The combination of ambroxol hydrochloride and 654-2 is effective as an adjuvant therapy for bronchiolitis.
