Determination of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in water by gas chromatography-μ-electron capture detector(GC-μECD)

Abstract

Objective:To establish a method for determination of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in water by gas chromatography-μ-electron capture detector(GC-μECD).Methods:Chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in water were extracted with petroleum ether or cyclohexane.The analysis was performed by gas chromatography-μ-electron capture detector(GC-μECD).Retention times were used to confirm the pesticides.Results:The calibration curves of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl were linear(correlatiom coefficient r0.999) within the range of 0.001 μg/ml~300 μg/ml,respectively.The recoveries were ranged from 93.2%~108% and 96.3%~103%,respectively.The relative standard deviations(RSD) of the method was 5%(n=8) for each case,and the limit of determination(LOD) was 0.5 μg/L.Conclusion:The method is simple,rapid.Its sensitivity and selectivity are high.The method is suitable for determining of chlorpyrifos and chlorpyrifos-methyl in water.
