Abstract
Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of p53 and PTEN proteins in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Immunohistochemistry SP was used to detect the expressions of p53 and PTEN in 60 cases of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues and 20 cases of normal tissues adjacent to laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Results (1)The positive rate of p53 was 51.2%(31/60) in LSCC,which was zero(0/20) in normal tissues adjacent to LSCC . (2)The negative rate of PTEN in LSCC tissues was 30%(18/60),which was significantly higher than 5%(1/20) in normal tissues adjacent to LSCC(P0.05). (3)The positive rate of p53 at Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage of LSCC was 62.5%,which was significantly higher than 35.7%(10/28) at Ⅰ~Ⅱ stage of LSCC (P0.05). The positive rate of p53 in LSCC with cervical metastasis was 81.8%(9/11),which was significantly higher than 38.7%(19/49) in LSCC without cervical metastasis(P0.05). (4)The negative rate of PTEN at Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage of LSCC was 40.6%(13/32),which was significantly higher than 17.8%(3/28) at Ⅰ~Ⅱ stage of LSCC(P0.05). The negative rate of PTEN in LSCC with cervical metastasis was 72.7%(8/11),which was significantly higher than 20.4%(10/49) in LSCC with out cervical metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion p53 and PTEN may play the important roles in the process of occurrence and development of the LSCC.
