Abstract

Calcium() reacts with DBS-arsenazo to produce a 1:2 (M:R) blue complex in NH_3-NH_4Cl buffer solution medium at pH 11.0. The maximum absorption wavelength of the complex locates at 610 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity of the method is e_(max) = 1.2010~4 Lmol~(-1) cm~(-1). Beer's law is followed over the range of 0~25μ of calcium in 25 mL of solution. The method was used in the determination of calcium in tea and table salt samples. The results obtained are satisfactory.
